This is the project that prompted me to initiate biweekly meetings to make sure no milestones slip through the cracks. We found out about this team member’s pregnancy very late, and had little time before she left on maternity leave to plan the shower. Since this would have been her second shower with our team, we opted for a smaller event — a sprinkle. Because of the late start on planning, I was unable to secure a budget larger than $50. We also ran into scheduling problems, as another event was slotted to use the same conference room the next week. The charge for this event was to maximize that $50 and design a space that was completely unique. To do that, we opted for light snacks instead of full catering, decor made of scraps from the Print Center, and borrowed linens from Hospitality. A couple of thumb tacks and some double sided tape is all we needed for this quick, impactful transformation.
